A Chicago native, Dr. Claire Kacena, has joined Center for Life Chiropractic as the second provider on staff. She is passionate about helping others obtain their personal health and wellness goals. After earning her bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Loyola University, Dr. Kacena went on to pursue her doctorate degree in Chiropractic Medicine from National University of Health Sciences. While in school she was active in the Student American Chiropractic Association, received additional coursework and training in Chiropractic rehabilitation and continues to be active in both the American Chiropractic and Oregon Chiropractic Associations.
Her main goal as a healthcare provider is to deliver patient-centered care that encompasses trust and collaboration by both doctor and patient. While it is the responsibility of the provider to educate and teach, it is just as necessary for the patient to learn and comply as part of a team effort for success. Another key component in her care as a holistic practitioner is to facilitate the body to heal itself. And that’s exactly what Chiropractic care offers. Returning the body to proper alignment through the Chiropractic adjustment, the body is now able to communicate more effectively with the brain and spinal cord and ultimately:
Through the use of various techniques in addition to traditional Chiropractic care, Dr. Kacena also utilizes soft tissue modalities, nutrition, and exercise/rehab to target and encompass the body as a WHOLE in order to achieve optimal well-being.
“On a personal side note while attending Chiropractic school, I was involved in a rough snowboarding accident that caused a Colle’s fracture of my left wrist, where the distal radius was fractured and my wrist and hand were displaced posteriorly (backwards) within my arm. It was by far the most terrifying experience of my life so far, especially since I knew how critical my hands were in my career as a Chiropractor. With the knowledge that I had accumulated up to that point in my Chiropractic education, nutrition and soft tissue techniques, I was able to fully takeover my own post-surgical rehab. With patience and determination, I was able to achieve full strength and range of motion within my wrist, and am thrilled to say that I am completely pain and symptom free today.”
“I am convinced that my ability to heal myself was based 100% on my knowledge of Chiropractic and the trust I had in it to help my body heal itself. Going through this personal experience is what motivates me to get up every day and try to teach and facilitate healing as many people as I can using the power of Chiropractic.”
